One Room Challenge/ Fall 2021: Week One
I did it. I decided to jump into the One Room Challenge once again.
This will be my 3rd ORC. My first time around I did the girls homework room and in Fall 2019 I redid our bedroom. The ORC can be nerve wracking and a real challenge, but it really is so fun to join in and a little fire under my butt to complete a project is never a bad thing.
This time around I will be redoing my main bathroom. If you have been following me on Instagram, you know that I have been slowly working on it for the last 8 months. It was so hard to do anything on it over the Spring and Summer because of my schedule, but with some changes in our family life I will have some more time to work on the space.
Here’s some inspiration…
Our house is only ten years old, and all of the finishes were totally builder-grade, so bit by bit I have been ripping out the builder grade and infusing the cottage character that I love.
This bathroom was in bad shape before we gutted it. I cracked the sink when a bottle of facial oil fell out of the medicine cabinet, and there were miscellaneous cracks in the ceramic tile floor. The toilet was almond colored, the shower was an ugly insert with glass doors, and it was painted pee yellow.
My plan for the space is…
subway tiled shower with glamorous polished nickel fixtures
custom turned leg vanity with marble top
painted black and white harlequin floors
celadon colored planked walls
vintage details
Here’s where I’m at with progress…
February 2021: gutted the space
March 2021: hired a handyman to build out the new shower and pour the shower pan
August 2021: I repurposed a kitchen table I bought on Facebook Marketplace by making it into a custom vanity
Which brings us to September 2021 where I have been working on the shower floor and wall tiling.
I am very excited to bring this space to life and to finally have my own shower again!
I also cannot wait to browse through all of the other guest participant ORC’s. Make sure you check them out here : https://www.oneroomchallenge.com/orc-blog
