The Pumpkin-less September Tablescape

I love Summer. I don’t mind the heat, I love the beach, a good sundress, gardening, and dining al fresco. So when pumpkins start to pop up all of the stores in August, I get a little tense! Summer carries us through more than half of September - so why rush the pumpkins?

September in New Jersey is a beautiful month - the flowers are still blooming (especially the dahlias), the humidity starts to drop, and the “golden hour” seems to be even more golden. I wanted to capture the feeling of September in a tablescape, so I pulled my inspiration from freshly picked apples and some of my late-blooming flowers.

The apples, the limelight hydrangeas, and the queen lime zinnias all have the same same punchy lime tone paired with a dusting of muted raspberry - I love the unexpected color palette. In hindsight, I wish I had picked up a couple more red-toned apples - I love that ruddy punch of color.

In addition to flowers, I also added some grass plumes into the flower arrangements. That wispy texture teeters between feeling autumnal and still feeling beachy.

I keep seeing amber bottles in fall decor all over Instagram, and I am on board with this trend! I like that they are bold and rich without being overtly autumnal. My vintage amber apothecary bottles glow when the votives are lit - I think it evokes the feeling of those gorgeous golden September sunsets!

I hope you like the little tablescape I pulled together for the cost of a bag of apples! Happy September!
